So last night I was working on some of my projects and was using a leonardo. Everything was working fine, but then suddenly it stopped. Now whenever I connect it, I can select the correct port and board, but when I try and upload it throws an error and says it cannot find the board on the given port…

Sounds like the FDTI driver is hanging up. I am not sure on Linux or Mac how to re-install the driver, but here are the instructions:
