Upload to Mega 2560 fails: "avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout"

Hi I have a problem with my Arduino Mega 2560 and this is the message that shows up after failing to load

Also when I press the reset button the light only blinks once and stays on. Can someone please help me with this. Thank you.
