uploaded sketch does nothing on makeblock ranger

Simple problem, i think.
I have a Makeblock ranger connected to my mac via USB. I have the makeblock library installed in the Arduino ISP. I load an example from the MakeblockDrive option, e.g buzzertest. I click upload, it compiles and uploads, ISP says upload complete. Communications lights flick on and off for a while but then nothing else happens.

Board and processor set to Mega 2560, port set to serial USB.

What am i missing?

I've never used one, but I see it needs six AA batteries. Do you have them installed correctly? Is there a power on/off switch?

Yes. have batteries installed and power light is on.
