Uploading Sketches

When uploading a sketch my computer takes quite a while and displays the following message at the bottom of the window with the Ardunio program running:

Arduino: 1.8.1 (Windows 7), Board: "Arduino Duemilanove or Diecimila, ATmega328"

Sketch uses 1906 bytes (6%) of program storage space. Maximum is 30720 bytes.
Global variables use 55 bytes (2%) of dynamic memory, leaving 1993 bytes for local variables. Maximum is 2048 bytes.

Problem uploading to board. See http://www.arduino.cc/en/Guide/Troubleshooting#upload for suggestions.

I have installed the driver, checked that under tools < board, it was correct, and under tools < port the correct port has been selected. A boot-loader has already been burned onto the board. There is a green light labeled on and a blue blinking light on the red-board that are lit only when i connect the USB to my windows 7 computer. I have checked the code and am unable to find any errors. Why am I unable to upload the code?
