USB cable for AtTiny85

Hey
I’ve built a small keypad with the Sparkfun AtTiny85, and would like to connect it with a cable.
When I plug it in normally, it behaves as expected and works great, but when connecting with a USB cable, it gets some usb error…
Tried connected it to the USB pins on the board, and to the USB "tongue" directly. nothing worked.
What is the correct way to do it?

thanks in advance:)

Use a better cable, or wire it up properly!

yeah.. that was the question...
what is the proper way to wire it up?

What exactly is Sparkfun ATtiny85?
Does it mean Digispark?
Can you provide a link?

GND -> GND (Normally BLACK)
D+ (Normally GREEN)
D- (Normally WHITE)
5V -> 5V (Normally RED)

Use your meter to find GND, the order is above for the connections.

Hang on … I take it your tiny has a mini USB connector ?

If so , you may need to install the CH340 driver for the USB connection to work.

You can’t break out wires from a USB and connect to pins on the board .
Google “ getting started Attiny”

Hi,
Can you post a link your ATtiny85 board?
How did you program it?
A picture of your project would be worth a thousand words.

Thanks.. Tom... :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: :+1: :coffee: :australia:
