USB not recognized

One of my boards is working and communicating fine with my Mac (OS 10.8). But the other board does not show up under system profiler USB devices nor as a serial port. Any ideas? I have upgraded FTID firmware and the arduino program.

Both boards are arduino uno. I even swapped the ATMEGA chip from the working one over but still does not show up!

Any ideas, have read just about every thread.. tried different computers..

One more thing.. the program previously uploaded is executing perfectly.

Anyone? Has this been addessed before??

From PC land not Mac land,
make sure you have the correct Com Port selected.

Tools>Serial Port>/dev/

Port doesn't show up in mac. nor as a usb device in terminal.. is my board fried? I dont get a TX/RX light when I plug it into the computer?

Only thing I can get computer to pick up on is shorting the arduino to cause teh computer to say USB device is drawing too much power...

I even swapped the ATMEGA chip from the working one over but still does not show up!

Were the symptoms the exactly the same, when you did this?

Yep they were

I have upgraded FTID firmware

Both boards are arduino uno

How are you using the FTDI?

Sorry this isn't a solution.... I seem to be having the exact same problem as you but on PC (Topic:... Serial Port Greyed out all of a Sudden!!)

My UNO stopped being recognised overnight on mine and another PC I tried even though it was set up and working fine on both the day before

The last upload was still on the board and working fine... I borrowed another UNO which seems to work fine... Someone just advised me it may be the USB to serial chip . . . . he's giving me some assistance at the moment so if anything works ill repost here
