USB Port Connection

I have two Arduino Uno boards, two Arduino Mega boards, and one Arduino Nano board. I use several different data cables that come supplied with the boards, but none of the USB ports on my Alienware Desktop and my System76 laptop recognize any device plugged in. Can you suggest troubleshooting tasks?

Which operating system?
Probably not relevant but which version of the IDE?

Did the boards work in the past?

Are the boards not recognised by the operating system or not recognised by the IDE?
What are the serial-to-usb converters on your boards?

You're sure they are data cables - not just charging cables?

Do these cables work for data connection with any other devices?

Have you ever seen USB-B cables (the ones with the big fat plugs) that are charge-only?

All fair questions and I apologize for the lack of information.
ALL Arduino boards are either on working projects that have been set aside, or current projects that were being used successfully up until a few days ago when the USB stopped working everywhere. One was brand new out of the box. All purchased from Arduino or Amazon. I installed CH340 drivers on Windows, but the Device Manager doesn't recognize any of them plugged in. Linux recognizes a device but the IDE does not. The cables are all used and as far as I can tell, there is no way to CHARGE anything with the cable. Really??
Now I am Using Windows 11 latest update, (perhaps there is the problem) and Ubuntu 20 and Ubuntu 22. ALL platforms the same as before but no control over OS system updates. I have three more Nano boards arriving today. I'm holding my breath. One Desktop, One laptop with dual boot, One mini PC with dual boot. SOMEBODY should recognize something.
