Hi there,
I have a few of these old boards ET BASE AVR MEGA128, which were programmed using the printer port via an ISP programmer and PonyProg. That PC is long gone and I'd like to get them running again. I have the following 'programmers':
JTAG ICE MK2 from ATMEL and a ET-AVR JTAG (RS232)1.0. Both 9Pin ports to the PC
Also I use Linux.
Q1. Can I use one of these to program the MEGA128 using Arduino IDE and a USB-RS232 conversion. ?
Q2. If Yes to Q1 do I just find the correct pins and connect to them in the first instance and set up the programmer under
'tools' in the IDE to JTAG?
Q3. Would I be better to just get an AVR ISP programmer for USB?
I don't mind buying a programmer if thats the easiest route but would be thankful for any advice to confirm I can actually program the boards in one way or another using Linux and the Arduino IDE.
I'm fairly new to this and have never used JTAG
Many thanks
Ed
