USB type C plug on Portenta Board instead of micro USB

Can the USB type C plug on the bottom of the Machine Control board (on the actual Portenta H7 board) be used just as the micro USB plug on the top? I do not intend to use them at the same time, but would prefer to run the cable from the bottom for practical reasons for uploading sketches and serial com. I am worried about power management if 24 V is connected on the Machine Control.

Best,
J

Hi @jonashagen, I have successfully uploaded sketches onto the H7 whilst it was attached to the PMC without any issues. From a practical standpoint as you say it is preferable over the USB micro on the front. I do not know if this method is officially supported however and unless someone else can confirm that it might be worth contacting Arduino support directly for an answer.
