USB will not (mostly) connect

I am having problems trying to connect via USB cable. I am running the lastest IDE as well as using the web editor. I use MacBook with Ventura 13.4.1.
I am spending hours unplugging and plugging in my USB cables as sometimes it is regognised and sometimes it just stops finding my boards. I am using original Arduino boards, UNO, Nano, IOT etc. Today it refused to recognise my UNO. Even when the connection is visible in the IDE window, when I upload it says : "No device found" I have tried new cables, short cables, USB hub with power. I have restarted my computer. Some days it works and some days it just will not connect. I am close to giving up as it is no fun anymore. It makes no difference which board I use, which also means it cant be a cable. I've scoured the forums and read "try a short/new cable" done that, dosent help.
Any new ideas?

I would recommend some tips and troubleshooting-
1)Check for any old drivers for serial devices.
2)Try running the class ide 1.x as this MAY be a bug with the current release of ide 2.0.x
3)Check the cable for loose connections, OR THE LAPTOP PORT.
4)Check the UART serial input and output of the board from another laptop.
I guess, take another device preferably with windows(just to check if bug in mac), use another cable, and try a serial communication sketch uploaded to the board.
Maybe possible that there is something wrong with the board? This test will decide it.

Thanks for the reply. I had already tried most of those things. It didnt seem to matter which board I used. I have given up at the moment running it from my MacBook. I have an old windows 10 laptop which seems to work ok (although
sometimes takes a while to recognise a different board). I dipped my toe into Arduino a couple of years ago and remember, even then , there were issues connecting via the USB. I just find it strange as I cant be the only person using Apple.

So it works in windows
Some mac related troubleshooting needed i think.
some more points to add-
-reinstall the driver,
-test a new or another board u never used. It is very very slightly possible tht -all the boards u are using are bricked, but who knows?
