Use Arduino to trigger random mp3 output

Hi guys,

I've never done any code at all before, but I need to trigger a random mp3 sound (from a small selection of sounds, say 5), from a laser trigger input.

Is Arduino the right way to go about this?

Also the sound will need to play from a speaker located on the circuit.

Many thanks, Phil

Arduino can not play mp3 files by itself. It has very limited memory. BUT with an adon shield like the waveshield it becomes possible to play wav files.

The shield is an expansion to Arduino that kind of snaps on to it so together the two of them should be able to do what you want.
