Use Arduino without USB?

i bought an arduino board a few days ago and wanna connect LED stripes to the arduino. So i wanna uppoad the code on the arduino with my computer, but then i just want to put my arduino where no computer is. Is it possible to connect the arduino via. Usb to a normal usb power adapter?

Yes. Once you have uploaded your sketch to the Arduino board it will run that program whenever it's given power. There is no need to have it attached to the computer for that.

Indeed their is no need to power it from the USB. You can use 5V regulated into the 5V pin, or 6.7V to 12V on the Vin pin, or 7V to 12V on the power jack.
