I have a Chevy vehicle with 7 or 8 inch myLink tft display. It's pretty nice.
Each time I look at it I think it would be nice to be able to use this for whatever I can dream up.
Ideally I'd like to somehow hook it up so I could flip a switch and it would display the OEM screens. Then flip the switch and have it display whatever I program.
I found a junkyard screen that I took apart and found it has a 40 pin screen. (I'm not yet sure of the pinout)
Is there a way short of adding 40 relays that I could use this one screen to display from both sources (one at a time)
Also do all 40 pin displays have the same pinouts?

Now that sounds interesting! Glad to read you didn't take your Chevy apart for access to the display.
Maybe someone would recognize your display, if you post a picture. And tell us a bit more about what you would like to do; connect two sources to the display, and switch from one to the other?
Instead of relays you could use buffer ICs with tri-state outputs, and enable them for one source or the other.
But you need to make sure you know the signal voltages and polarity first.
No, unfortunately there are different pinouts for 40 pin displays. I did not yet search if there exists a systematic listing of interfaces of displays with parallel interfaces; someone should provide this in Wikipedia, if it is not yet there.

OK I'll attach some photos.
It measures 7 inches from corner to corner.
I dug a little deeper and the 40 pins go to a pcb that I guess would be the driver/graphics card. Then it had about 60 pins going to the display. (I did not yet count to make sure it's exactly 60 Pins.
I have yet to see a tft with more then 50 pins so.....
Adding pictures on this site seems to be a pain.

What pain? Scroll down past the Reply box, click Attachments and other Options, browse to your file.
Click Post.
In the post, right click the File, select Copy shortcut.
Select More:Modify, paste the shortcut in with img tags.
Click Save.
Takes 30 seconds. I do it all the time. No dealing with spam/virus/worm laden hosting sites.
