Use of barcode scanner with USB shield

We are using an USB shield with barcode scanner and the Usb.Task(); function and we need to store the data from the barcode reader but this function does not return any value putting directly in the LCD. How can i read and store the data from barcode scanner?

Have you looked at the source code for Usb.Task() to see what it is doing?
