I recommend to my customers to donate on the IDE download page.
One has asked what you are doing with the donations. There's not much on the Why/FAQ page. Can someone fill me in please.

What a sensible question (seriously).
However I believe the people who know the answer don't bother to read this Forum.
For that reason I have no intention of making a donation beyond buying some genuine Arduinos. And with the current dispute between the founders my enthusiasm for doing even that has waned.
