Use relays to disconnect pH electrode

I would like to disconnect my ph electrode from its circuit when its not in use. I want to use relays to open and close the circuit. Will this work or am I going to have a problem with relay contact resistance.

Is there a better way to disconnect the electrode?

The ph circuit will be powered by a battery. But when the battery is charging i want to disconnect the electrode to prevent any leaking current from fouling the electrode.

Why do you want to disconnect the ph electrode? It will not load your power source.

Not if you use a decent relay. A reed relay is suggested for a number of reasons.

That would suggest that there is a fault in your circuit which would "leak" current into the electrode. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Or maybe separate earths at different voltage levels?
Differential amplifiers are often used with pH measurements (shield of pH meter not connected to mains earth lead).
