Bob.
I wondered why it wasn't working. Thought it was my finger-trouble.
I got more alerts in the last week than all my years here. :o
That sounds great, but helas it were false alerts.
FYI I still get lots of alerts
It was DISABLED for the forum here so please clear your alerts "mark all as read"
I will start to check into this a little more.
Did so and had 22 today one of which was your post here
Was it a NAME notification or simply a REPLY notification ?
I'm talking about alerts.
As you can see in the attachment there are 48 alerts but only your reply is shown in the list
Basically there is a difference between the number calculator and the list generator algorithm.
In the mean time I'm at 63 alerts.
Still only your message shown in the list
That is NOT related to the @username function as you have now identified.
ALERTS are a different matter and subject to issues of thier own.
Some of the problems were mitigated but I must admit they are not fully resolved (at least to my liking)
You can turn some of them ON / OFF in your user control panel.
But as a moderator that may mean you miss some things so mine are all ON.
See the work list for what has or has not been fixed / added etc.
Well ... it started when the @username functionality was activated.
And there is not mutch to turn on/off as I do not see any notifications in the list.
I don't monitor your section specifically or have access to why you seem to be getting more alerts or those notifications themselves.
What I am saying is that it can NO LONGER be the cause as it was switched off in here for ALL users so the notifications you are seeing are more likely to be real ones and not caused by a bug in the @username function.
If they are SPECIFIC @username alerts then fine I can look at those but if they are just normal alerts eg Quoted, Replied, etc. there is nothing I can do.
Think that the forum overall has seen a slight increase in traffic (time of year maybe) but other than that I am not seeing a great increase in the alerts as a whole.
Cannot speak for others and your case in particular was the main reason we switched it off in here.
If there is a definite list of people with the severity you claim to have we would have to leave the feature disabled. The other reports in comparison were quite minor on thier own otherwise with yours being the absolute worst case.
I urge anyone with more details and specific observations to add thier name to yours.
Bob.
