Me and a friend of mine want to join the school's science fair for electronics, and we decided to build a rover robot except in the guidelines and rules of the fair it states that every student should explain the uses of his project.

What are the uses of rover robots besides exploration, what can we implement in the project to make it more interesting

A lot of industrial robots are used where conditions prevent using humans, such as high radiation fields, toxic atmospheres, dangerous bomb disposal, confined spaces, etc.

You could make a data logging rover that drives around taking samples of air quality and temperature.
