So here’s what I’m trying to do , I want to take an actuator that runs off a battery, and use it to drip the dump lever on my tractor pond/3 point scoop.
The old way is via rope and isn’t efficient having to get on or off to dump the payload then back on to reset it and go again.
This is a not to scale visual of what I have in mind
Any ideas advice are appreciated, like I said it’s not to scale just a simple push pull with a switch to trip the standing bar and then pull it back to lock
I understand what you have and are trying to do. ALL such scoops I have seen used a solid rod to allow the driver to trip the scoop and then lower the scoop to the ground to reset the latch also using the solid rod.
I think you are inviting problems from dirt and rain water.
This is the general type I was thinking , it’s just very simple one, of course I’ll be using a waterproof model and probably a cover to keep rain and moisture out.
I wish it had the longer trip handle but it doesn’t, it just has the shorter one like in pic 2, but using a rope to trip it doesn’t work from the seat, the mechanism works but needs a more reliable bump to drop the dirt
I just plan to take a piece of square stock the size of the trip lever, drill a hole in it , add a set screw to hold the square stock on tight on the trip lever then attach the actuator end , where I can just bump it forward drop my dirt reverse bump back into lock
It’s more about safety for me, my tractor is a old ford diesel, getting on n off to trip the lever with it running is kinda risky , not to mention a battery killer
It just simply has to push the lever forward, so it’s a linear type of motion.
I use it as a drag scoop but it’s reversible, so it mout just push it to the back which engages the drop then a r reverse bump n set it down to relock and on to the next scoop
I thought of that but I’m not much of a technical drawer , I had a idea to make one with my wire welder square stock , a linkage of some sort and a handle I could pull or push from the seat
I got the actuator idea because I can see the linear motion and how to make it work in my head a lot clearer than trying to weld something when I’m a beginner welder if even that lol
To go from a piece of square stock to a piece cut to fit over the trip lever, with set screw , which would move in a Z motion , I’d push backwards momentum would push the piece in the picture above back and thus trip the lever
A miniature linear actuator like the following one, a 12V battery and a DPDT reversing switch is all you need. The product page suggests that the required limit switches are built in.
