using a button to start a program with inbetwino.

hi,

i have a course project where i decided to use nfc tags and readers to start a program on a computer.

because i havent coded much nor know an arduino very well i decided to try using a button 1st to start the program.

after some googl'ing i came onto inbetwino to use a path to start.
but every time i upload the code and start inbetwino, it just starts to program without interaction. and (when i placed it into loop instead of setup, it kept running it.)

code:

// First we'll set up constants for the pin numbers.
// This will make it easier to follow the code below.

const int button1Pin = 7; // pushbutton 1 pin
int buttonState = 0;

void setup()
{
// start serial
Serial.begin(9600);

// Set up the pushbutton pins to be an input:
pinMode(button1Pin, INPUT);
buttonState = digitalRead(7);

if (buttonState == HIGH);{
Serial.print("#S|RUNPROG|[]#");

}
}

void loop()
{

}

can anyone help me with this problem, and i will have to rewrite a bit later when the nfc tags arrive. but i rater like having a working button for now.

 if (buttonState == HIGH);{

Oops.

so with what should i replace it? because if i shange it to "LOW, or 1, or 0"? it still starts it auto (using the serial monitor). and if i have to remove the ";" then arduino will give an error.

I meant "oops, what's that semicolon doing there?"

weird, kept giving me an error, and now it doest, but my button still does nothing :(. i wonder if i am trying something way too difficult for me.

Tell us how the switch is wired.
