Using a programmer to send data

Hello everyone,

Is it possible to use a programmer like the avrisp mkii to send data from a PC to an Arduino board like the ADK?
Would this simply be done by configuring the SPI?
Rephrasing my question:
Assuming I can find a way to send data from my PC through the programmer, would it be possible for a running program on the Arduino to read that data?

Thanks is advance.

You could hook the ISP to the SPI pins (all the same as ICSP except Pin 10 (SS) instead of RESET). Then you could write an SPI Slave sketch and receive the programming instructions.

Read the MSK500V1 specification for programing messages and read the Serial Programming part of the ATmega datasheet to see what the programmer will be sending based on those messages.
