I'm definitely going to study up on the switch-case and mode states. All new to this and trying to learn as much as I can. Again thank you for all your help and being patient with me.

"States" or "Finite State Machine" is the right keyword. The https://create.arduino.cc/projecthub/gusgonnet/using-finite-state-machines-fdba04 link in #14 is pretty good. I used "mode" in the parent code because it matched the language someone was using to describe their problem.
