Using Arduino DUE as a Logic Analyzer?

According to Arduino Forum the Uno works well as a logic analyzer using SUMP protocol. Could this be done on a DUE to have a faster sampling rate etc? I understand port manipulation would be completely different. Basically I am wondering if there are any hidden show stoppers to doing this like wrong hardware. Or if this has already been done?
