Using Arduino for first time

Looking for how to test out a project idea.

If you don't have any hardware (breadboard, jumperers, switches, etc.) to experiment with you should be able to set the whole thing up on https://wokwi.com and get it working there to prove the code side of the project.

Get each part working by itself first. Prove that the sensors give the desired function. Learn to control the gate (servomotor?). Understand the first five demos in IDE->file/examples/digital. Combine the parts into a working, complete sketch.

Once you've got that work on the mechanical/electrical aspects. Select a motor. Select a driver capable of controlling the motor. Select a power supply capable of providing enough power to the motor. And so on.

That's helpful, thanks a lot.

I moved the discussion in a better category

I just hope it's not meant to be a replacement for reversing slowly while paying close attention to any pedestrians or other traffic that may want to cross the driver's path.

Thanks!
