Using arduino mega to communicate with PIC

Hello, i have a arduino mega, where when i press the button, id like to send a command 'RV\r\n' to my PIC wich will print out my arduino. I have a RS232MAX that converts ttl to 232, but im running into a issue where i dont think im talking to my PIC, if i dont send the right command my PIC should transmit to the arduino '??' saying there is a error. Could anyone assist?

Trying the setup\concept with two Arduinos first would be an idea.

You don't need the RS232, PICs use TTL levels for serial, the same as the processor in your Mega. You just connect Tx on one to Rx on the other. Don't forget the ground.

You will of course need some suitable code.

are you talking about a Microchip PIC24 based microcontroller or a PLC?

What makes you think it's PIC24 specifically? I use PICs and cannot see anything the OP has said that suggests a specific range of PICs let alone a specific PIC. Just curious as to what I might have missed.
