Using ArduinoISP card with WIN-AVR

Reference topic: http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php?topic=302588.0

WIN-AVR’s installation does not recognize “arduino ISP” as a valid programmer type. I have copied the “avrdude.conf” file from the Arduino IDE directory (program files (x86)\arduino\hardware\tools\avr\bin) into the WIN-AVR directory (WinAVR-20200110\bin). When I enter any “avrdude” command, I receive "syntax error at “c:\WinAVR-20100110\bin\avrdude.conf:XXX” where XXX is the line number of the first “type” entry in the configuration file. What do I have to do in order to run “avrdude” from the command line using the arduinoISP card?

Syntax problem was apparently due to different versions of "avrdude" between the Win-AVR installation and the Arduino IDE (one requires the 'type' parameter to be enclosed in quotes, the other does not). Moved on to other frustrations.
