Using Beetle (small Leonardo basically), how do I send key modifier to computer?

What I have. Basically a Leonardo with fewer pins and plug directly into USB port.

I've used keyboard example to send simulated key presses to the computer and it does work. But how can I add keyboard modifier? Example: holding Windows key then send d key, which would make Window clear screen to desktop.

I've looked around for keyboard example but it seems all I can get are what I can type without modifier key. Is there a trick to make the Beetle simulate holding down modifier key (Windows, ALT, CTRL)?
