In order to make Mega 2560 pins available for use, I am trying to separate the TFT shield (plugged into a Mega 2560) from the actual 5" TFT display module by using a 6" 40-pin extension cable to connect the display module to the display shield. When I do this, the display works fine but I can't get the touchscreen to work at all. If I connect the shield/Mega directly to the display module, the touchscreen works fine. I am using the UTFT and URTouch libraries.
Any ideas why the TS stops working when the extension cable is used? I have verified all the cable is wired correctly.
Please note that the shield and display are from SainSmart. Please don't yell, I inherited them.
Assuming it is wired correctly it sounds like the capacitance of the additional wire is causing your problem. No problem you got it from the best source at the time.
