Using MacPro High Sierra - port not found

Using Arduino IDE 1.x

Hi,

Just getting started with my first Arduino project, my account set up and IDE all works fine -
I am using a MEGA 2560 card -
In sketch (Arduino 1.8.7) When I search under Tools > Port my card is not showing up.

Help appreciated on how to fix this.

Can you tell us, if you are using an original Mega or a clone?
The originals come with a Mega16U2 USB communication chip whereas a lot of clones use a CH340x comm chip.
For the CH340 you will need a special driver for your Mac.

Thank you rpt007, yes its a clone, it was a gift from a friend, I will go find the CH340x comm driver,

Did you find the CH340 driver and did that solve your problem?
Pls think of sharing (even successful results ...) with the community in order to help somebody else having run into same or similar problem.

And if it did help to solve your problem, pls change your headline with a SOLVED - in front of your original headline to make it easier for everybody to jump to a solution rather than diving into a thread with no or not obvious solution. This will save time and energy for everybody. Thanks.
