Using mobile phone or other display?

For an Arduno project, where I recently ordered the Arduino Mega, I do also need a graphical display.
I remembered I used to have an old Sagem MC 930 broken phone. But I'm not sure if I can controll it using Arduino and how?

Or is there a good cheap LCD module/component that I can use? It should have white pixels on blue background (or so, not that ordinary black'n'green stuff)
This one for example: http://www.conrad.de/ce/de/product/181719/LCD-MODUL-BLUE-LINE-GRAFIK-128X64/SHOP_AREA_17651&promotionareaSearchDetail=005 (Conrad.de shop art no. 181719 - 62) but they are SO expensive.

http://www.conrad.de/ce/de/product/187433/GRAFIK-LCD-MODUL-LED-BEL-WEISS-128X64 this one would also be great, (art no 187433 - 62)

And how do I control them or is it impossible with those? I don't wanna spend 60 Euros on a display and then it is not compatible with Arduino.
Or do you have a "special" online shop offering displays and stuff suitable for Arduino?

In this forum I've seen people talking about the Arduino Color LCD shield with a Nokia screen (or so), where do I get them? is it cheaper and easier to control?

Many thanks, have a nice holidys,
Greetings from Germany.

Take look on Arduino Playground - LCD

I suggest nokia 3310 lcd it is very cheap but it must be powered by 3.3v

I've found an old Nokia 3410 in the basement. Would this work as well?

BajK, the displays you posted from conrad.de are both KS0108 graphical LCD (GLCD) displays, which is well supported by the Arduino; there's even a library for it:

http://www.arduino.cc/playground/Code/GLCDks0108

It seems to me, though, that ~60 euros for an LCD is a little overpriced (?), considering on Ebay you can find them for about one-third to half that price - ex:

http://cgi.ebay.com/KS0108-128x64-Graphic-LCD-Blue-Backlight-EasyPIC5-/130337989859?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e58bfe4e3

Not sure what VAT or anything else would do to those numbers, but I am pretty sure you can do better than those prices.

Oh, damn, am I stupid. I did NEVER consider ebay as an alternative. Just looking those things up right now

Really nice that there's even a library for that.

But does the Nokia 3410 screen work as well with the 3310 library? Don't wanna break the mobile in case my grandmother wants it back or something.

Does the Nokia 3410 screen work with the 3310 library?

I did now disassemble the Nokia 3410 and am trying to solder that supid microsize contacts but no luck yet. Looking for a thinner soldering stick.

It sounds like you've already got something going but in case you end up wanting to buy one:

It appears that there is pretty good support for this setup since they're selling well. Plus I can tell you the shipping isn't bad (to Stuttgart anyways) from Sparkfun, takes about a week and a half.
