Using multiple UART serial connections

I have two arduino Due's communicating using xBees. I am using the xBee shield from sparkfun to interface the xBees and the arduinos. The xBee connects to the UART0 pins on the Due. Everything works great but I have a small problem, I want to also communicate with the computer over the built-in USB connection, however that is on UART0 as well. My goal is to have the xBee communicate over a different UART so I can still use UART0 for communication with the PC.

I know there are multiple UARTs available on the Due, but how do i declare them in code? I saw an example that uses this, but it's only for the Mega.

  Serial.begin(9600);
  Serial1.begin(9600);

Anyone have any ideas? And I'd like to avoid using the SoftwareSerial library. Thanks in advance.

Same way AFAIK.
