using RFM69 transmitter with MX-05v (the cheap green ones)

I spent a week or so pulling my hair out on the 433 mhz TX/RX pair. The receiver is MX-05v. I got about 30' of range after trying all the tricks.

Now I have a rfm69hw and it is super awesome and super easy to use. I got 75m range (through walls etc) today after 5 mins of tinkering.

Has anyone tried a project where they use rfm69 as transmitter and used the cheap receiver? I could not find any examples online....

I get over 300 meters of line of sight range with the cheapest 433 MHz TX/RX modules, using the "trick" of a proper antenna: a balanced dipole 33 cm from tip to tip. Connect the inner ends of the dipole to ANT and GND as shown below.
