Using S-Type Load Cell to measure pull (tensions)

So I am using a s-Type Load Sensor :Amazon.ca

I have hooked it up to an HX711 amplifier and then subsequently to a Arduino Uno Board. I am trying to get readings on tension forces on the cell. This is going to be pressures achieved by pulling on a set of reins that will be attached to the cell. However I am having little success in achieving any of this. I have looked on sites: https://www.instructables.com/id/Arduino-Tension-Scale-With-40-Kg-Luggage-Load-Cell/

Namely this one, and I followed directions but when I go to calibrate its very unclear about what I am meant to do.

Basically I am looking for direction on how to hook up this type of load cell with an hx711, maybe if someone just has a better resource I can go by I would be grateful. Sorry I am new to all this so I understand I sound stupid.

How is the load cell mounted? What results did you get from your first attempt?

I didn't get any results. Actually tbh I think that its not wired correctly, I have 5 wires on this device, black red white green and a non colored steel wire. I don't know where to hook these up to cause most I read about only have 4.

Its going to be drilled onto a board horizontally and then pulled from the other end. but for now I just want to get readings out of it in general.

If they follow the standard color code:
red +excitation
black - excitation
green +output
white - output
bare wire shield

The output will be positive in tension.

Post your code. Post a schematic. Post photos of your wiring. Post a sample of the program's output (copy serial monitor).
The more that we know the better and quicker help you will get.

Ya so that what I was reading about on the wires. But is there anyway to hook that up to an hx711? cause thats what im trying to do. and then after that hook it to arduino. I am pretty sure the code I have is not going to work but I am, using this site for that, it has the codes for calibration and stuff further down:

It is a different load cell but I wasn't sure where else to look

Hey, so I have a S-Type Load cell that I want to hook up to an hx711 amplifier and then program into an arduino uno board in order to measure outputs for tension. This load cell will be bolted onto a board on one and and then a set of reins on the other that will be pulled on.

I am having trouble understanding how I am meant to set this thing up and can't find resources for it.

There are 5 wires : red +excitation
black - excitation
green +output
white - output
bare wire shield

However I am not sure how this is meant to wire to the hx711 or to the arduino. If anyone could guide me through this or let me know if I am missing something or if its even possible I would greatly appreciate it.

What Google search terms are you using?

I've googled it saying stuff like how to use S-Type Load Cell to measure tension with arduino, or how to hook it to an hx711.

This turns up some helpful tutorials (generally, one should avoid Instructables):

Ya see I have looked that up and seen those but I can't find an example that uses an s type like this :

with an hx711 and then an arduino. All I can find are the load cells that only have 4 wires or this degraw load cell but again different wiring

Why did you start another thread for this same problem? Other thread.

Honestly I couldn't even find the old thread, embarrassingly enough. I'm new to the site and scrolled though the stuff looking but couldn't locate it.

Connect the shield to "- excitation" and pretend it is a 4 wire load cell.
