Using Serial.print on custom board with a driver like PL2303 or CP2102

I am making a custom board for a school project. I want to connect the Arduino to a computer via the USB port. If I want to get the message "Hello world!" on my computer do I need to add parts to make the connection between the Arduino and the driver work or I can get away with connecting the RX, TX, GND and power pins directly?

You can send data to/from the computer over the USB link and/or use RX and TX if you have an interface like a FTDI cable.

Thank you for your reply.

The interface is the USB driver. I want to know if I can wire the pins between the Atmega and the USB driver directly or if I will have to add some parts like resistors or transistors.
