Using stand alone xbee to send sensor data to an arduino with an xbee

I was wondering how I would go about transmitting data from just an xbee to an arduino with an xbee i have 2 series 2 xbee and would like to transmit data from an xbee with no arduino attached to it to an xbee with with an arduino attached.

would like to transmit data from an xbee with no arduino attached to it

What data? How is that XBee to know when to transmit this mysterious data?

In API mode, the XBee can send packets when its digital pins change state. The XBee can send packets at periodic intervals, containing analog pin data.

But, you need to say a lot more about what you are trying to do.

I am hooking the xbee up to a strain gauge (a homemade one that is just some antistatic foam in between two wires. The amount of force applied will change the signal that i am reading. all I need is the signal to fluctuate based on pressure the values don't really matter. Then i want to send the signal that i read on the standaloe xbee to another xbee that is attached to an arduino

The project seems very similar to this: http://www.freakent.co.uk/2013/01/20/look-no-arduino-xbee-sensor-network/ but the site is very vague

Did you read reply #1?
