Using the Adafruit Ultimate GPS logger shield with the Arduino M0

I'm attempting the use the Ultimate GPS logger shield from Adafruit with my new Arduino M0.

I'm working through this guide here:

There are different approaches for the UNO and the leonardo. The M0 isn't mentioned. Is the M0 relevantly similar enough to either of these boards to use the guide for either the UNO or the leonardo?
