I'm using an easy stepper board(EasyDriver - Stepper Motor Driver - ROB-12779 - SparkFun Electronics) to drive a stepper. I'm trying to find out what the enable pin is and how it is used. The board controls motors fine without hooking up the pin. Can some please explain it to me how/why/should I be using it. Thanks.
You'll find that the stepper is hard to turn by hand when energized. It also heats up when under constant control. The "Enable" input allows you to turn off all of the coils. This is handy when you might want manual control.
Good to know. I had notice the motor heating up and was hoping the enable pin might have something to do with resolving it.
Thanks.
