Using the whole LCD

I just got a 16x2 white on blue, nice screen. I played with all of the examples. How do I use both lines? I want to type on 1 and 2. I looked up the LCD libraries but could not find an example. Point me in the right direction please?

What library are you using? Should be a setCursor() function, Syntax on mine is setCursor(0,1); to move the cursor to the first (0) character on line 1 (second line) then print like normal.

I'm using the one I downloaded with IDE. So you are saying I have to write it in code to use the other line? I will give it a shot. Thanks.

Yes. Like:

lcd.print("xxx");  //will start printing at the 6th character of line 1

Try this:

#include <LiquidCrystal.h>

//LiquidCrystal lcd(RS, E, D4, D5, D6, D7);
LiquidCrystal lcd(7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12);      // put your pin numbers here

void setup()
  lcd.begin(16, 2);                          // put your LCD parameters here
  lcd.print("hello, world!");
  lcd.print("it works!");

void loop()

Floresta, that was perfect code. Exactly what I needed. Thank you!
