I am powering my BLE Sense Rev2 board externally with a 5v power supply, along with some other 5v components connected to the same power supply. I just want to double check - to power the arduino using VIN, I should connect the other pin of the power supply to GND? I am planning to put a 1N4007 diode on both arduino pins.
If you want to use VIN to supply power to the board than, yes, the other connection should go to GND on the board
Note that 5V is the minimum acceptable input voltage so putting 2 diodes in series with it would reduce a 5V supply to less than that
Connected it like so and it ran fine, despite the resistance of two diodes. (i wanted to ensure nothing would be damaged after the last arduino fried - 2 is probably excessive)
I’m not taking any 5v output from the arduino, so I’m going forward assuming the low voltage won’t cause any issues.
Thanks for responding to such a silly question.
