Using Xbee as a terminal application

Anyone, I am looking for some guidance on a project. I have a device that spits out serial ascii data that can be read through a terminal program like putty. I would like to use an xbee configuration to transmit the output from the serial device to a remote USB/Xbee board, then the remote PC/MAC could use putty to see the output from the remote Xbee. Has anyone done anything like this? Any opinion or direction would be a great help. Thanks

Seems like a reasonable thing to do. Conceptually, the paired XBees behave just like a wired serial connection. Be sure to check the signal levels of the device - if it's designed to connect to an external serial port it may be using RS232 signaling in which case you'd need to convert between that and TTL serial signaling.

The solution is available. But when you deploy the wireless solution. firstly you need consider the distance between two device and the data capability of the application. Also the ports of XBEE and device should take account, whether the two ports are compatible.
