Variable types with * prefix

byte *ptr = &y;

I don't like the above as I want to transfer the address of y into pointer variable (ptr) and NOT into *ptr. So, I prefer:

byte *ptr;
ptr = &y;

They are different. @kenb4's is an initialization. Yours is a definition followed by an assignment.
