Does anyone know how to change the volume of a piezo speaker on a genuino 101 board with a potentiometer?
HI there!
A piezo buzzer is fed a constant voltage, which controls pitch. A piezo speaker is fed pulses, which controls tone. Can you confirm you have a piezo speaker?
The piezo transducer connects to the slider (center terminal) and to ground.
The input-signal (output from the Aduino, input to the pot) goes into one "end" of the pot, and the other end is grounded. If turning it clockwise makes it quieter, reverse the signal and ground connections.
There is a schematic on this page.
I have a piezo speaker
Hi newbie here, and am having trouble with my piezo buzzer. I think the volume is low enough but I dont need it varied, I really just need to pump up my volume. Any tips on how I can amplify the output signal from my PWM pin? Thanks.
Piezo buzzers (active) don't like PWM.
Try if you actually have an active piezo buzzer by connecting it to a 9volt battery.
If it doesn't make sound by itself, then you have a piezo speaker (passive buzzer).
Leo..
Thanks for replying dear sir. But I am absolutely sure that what I have is in fact a piezo buzzer. I recently bought it from a trusted electronics store they even tested it by running voltage through it. I even tested it myself at home by running 6 volts through it. Is it more convenient if use a piezo speaker instead if a piezo buzzer does not go well with PWM?
