As a first time poster on the forums, hello!
So here is what I would like to do. I have a shaved door handle kit I installed on my car. At the minimum I would like to use the arduino and something like the id-20 RFID reader to pop the door solenoids. That being said, what I would really like to do is use the arduino and reader to activate codes on the alarm. I would accomplish this by wiring the arduino to the simple keypad that is supplied with the alarm that normally attachs to the windshield. Here is a link of my alarm and if you peek down the page a little you will see said keypad. http://www.auto-innovatio.com/magento/english/smart-system-st800-smart-key-security/dw-tech-st800.html This way the arduino could simulate the key presses causing the alarm to disarm, pop the trunk, etc.
So if I placed a reader near the trunk area the arduino could read the rfid and enter the code combo for trunk release. The same for the door, a reader at the door that would disarm the alarm if active and pop the door or just pop the door if the alarm was not active.
I have a rfid tag implanted in my hand I use for door access at my house. I know this is not a tightly secure method as much as it is just convenience AND fun to play with. If someone wants in that bad, they break a window. No hacking or equipment needed.
Anyone with a little free time willing to toy around on this project with me? I really only need assistance on the actual software side of the process as I am new to the arduino.
In the meantime I'll continue searching, reading, and playing with the arduino. A big "thank you in advance" to anyone and everyone on this forum that has supplied such a great amount of reference material for us new people.
Spiteful
