Very basic upload question from newbe?

I'm quite new on Atmel processors and the IDE.

I think I have it, but would like it confirmed.

When I upload code to the 'professor', it goes into flash (or whatever) so I do not need the cable after that?
Unless the code does not run properly, of course.

Yes, that's the idea. I like that you named your Arduino "the Professor". I think I'll have to think up a better name for mine, usually I just call it Dammit.
