hey guys, I'm looking to make a cable to go directly from VGA to a single composite/RCA video out.
The idea is to go from my pc to a video transmitter, but im trying to cut down on hardware - so if there is a way to use a attiny or something to scan the signal and convert it to composite.
I found this to go to a b/w signal
but there is a lot of pre-setup with the pc and i was looking for something very small and compact that just works.
any suggestions?

I don't know how to do that, but I doubt it can be done with a microcontroller. It might take a specialized chip.
I'd recommend you search internet and buy one. I have one. I think it cost me about $20 or $30.
Some VGA ports have composite output built in. In that case, you can use a simple [u]VGA to Composite Adapter Cable[/u].

You have posted this in "Project guidance", but it has nothing in any way to do with Arduinos, OK?
That's OK, we don't mind thoroughly ectopic questions as long as there is no confusion about this. 
Composite video is analog and it doesn't have the resolution required for a VGA display. If you want your image to look like a crappy security camera then go ahead. Otherwise you are going to need a much more capable transmitter.
