Visual Studio and Arduino Nano

I plan on purchasing an Arduino Nano to work with light sensors, measure the readings, and report them back to a program written in Visual Studio.

I was wondering... Has anyone done this before? Is it difficult to send raw data to the computer through the microcontroller to the PC?

This is relatively simple and commonly done. Take a look at the Communications section of the on-line tutorials:

-- The Quick Shield: breakout all 28 pins to quick-connect terminals

As Rugged writes, this is beeing done all the time

If you know how to code the .net side then it should be easy for you.

Arduino use simple serial communication, so your Arduino board will show up as a serial port on your PC. In your .net program you just use the io.ports.serial class to implement a serial port.
