Voice changing problems!

Hey

I want to use the wave field voice changer to change how my voice sounds, here is the link to the project page: Building It | Wave Shield Voice Changer | Adafruit Learning System

The wave field produces the altered audio as the speaker is speaking into the microphone. I want to change this so that I can speak into the microphone and have the altered audio played afterwards, maybe by pressing a button (If that is the best way to do it). How would I go about doing this? what would I have to change circuit wise and programming wise?

I could just not use the wave field voice changer at all and use something like this instead: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ISD1820-Voice-Board-Sound-Recording-and-Playback-Module-On-Board-Microphone-/141511716167?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item20f2c16d47 How would I get this device to change the sound of my voice?

Many many thanks to anyone who answers this!

So build the voice changer and put it on the output of the voice recorder?

Or you could put the output of the voice changer on the input of the recorder.

but doesn't the voice changer need to be connected to the wave shield to work?

How is the voice changer connected? Through a stereo cable?
