So, it's not "simply" and LED. The datasheet says:
An intelligent controlled light source... integrated in a package with 5050 components.
Then, there's some conflicting information. The text says there is a 12V constant-current "part", but the charts say between 6 and 7V. In any case, I think your 7V battery supply will be fine without a regulator.
