We are working on development of a programmable multi power management module called 'Voltiny' which can be a great addon for all your arduino projects. Voltiny gives a great flexibility for most of your power management requirements. It supports smart power switching which can Switch off cores and peripherals when not used and you can easily schedule a power on and off which gives a complete low power management to your devices. The prototype is powered by USB and can be easily programmed to output different digital voltages ranging 1.2V , 1.8V, 3.3V, 3.6V, 5v etc. You can find more about the project which is currently being funded on Indiegogo .
The Prototype looks great and interesting , yet before we run our first production line , we would be glad to hear your suggestions / feedbacks to make the product more powerful and compact .
Please help to share the word with your friends and make voltiny reach hardware developers/hackers across the globe .
Using an Atmega or ATtiny to make DC-DC converter is something I like a lot. But there is too little information.
Do you use an ATmega or ATtiny chip to control the voltage ? or a dedicated chip ?
Why are there two chips and two inductors on the board ?
How much current can it supply ?
The 15 dollar "Voltiny Deal" is not clear what it is. I understand that it is hard to estimate a decent price for the first run, but this is very unclear.
A Voltiny for 29 dollars is too much, a Arduino fake/clone on Ebay is only 3 or 5 dollars. Can you estimate the shipping costs to Europe and usa ?
A version that can operate on a Lipo or Li-ion cell would be nice. By requiring 5.0V to work, the use is a little limited. What about some feedback, if the output voltage can not be created because the input voltage is too low ?
What is the efficiency with those inductors ? 95% or better ? Do you have a working prototype with the actual components that you are going to use ? Can you make a movie with it, showing what it does and showing the efficiency.
What is the accuracy of the output voltage ?
How much ripple is on the output voltage ?
I see on WaferLabs.com that you are located in Bangalore.
On wikipedia I can find that Bangalore is in India. Bangalore - Wikipedia
Why don't you write on the site that you are in India ? It is like some usa sites, who think there is nothing outside the usa, so there is no need to mention that the company is located in the usa.
Thanks Peter for the valuable feedback and suggestions , Indeed it will be of a great value for the success of voltiny .
The board shown is just a debug prototype which we are using to evaluate. We are trying to finalize bom and come up with a more filtered estimated cost . I shall update the technical specifications once the bom is finalized .
We are even working on shipment process . We are already in talks with the shipment providers and hence will update the same once we get a clear picture on this .
Video ? , Yes , we are planning for the same since the launch of the project . We will upload a detailed video with necessary tutorials which can also be helpful for the beginners .Infact we are even planning to have some videos on few example projects being integrated with voltiny . Anyhow we will keep it updated .
Voltiny operating on a Lipo or Li-ion cell is a good suggestion indeed , We would definitely love to think about incorporating the same .Also, the project page already mentions that the project is based in india , let me know where actually you meant me to specify the location. The Voltiny deal $15 is also updated
