Are you using (or will you be using) Arduino IDE v2?
Please write a brief information about yourself, for your Arduino activities.
Answer 1: No.
Result: No:Yes -> 1:0
I don't think I will use v2. Main reason: The very slow speed of startup, changing menus, code layouts and other little features we've come to love over the years. I liked the Arduino because of the simplicity. Hobbyist Arduino user over 7 years.
Faster to start up than 1.8.x when you have lots of 3rd party libraries installed.
Con:
No portable install.
Some, in my opinion minor, issues to be sorted.
About me:
I've been a hardware designer for about 8 years, slowly rolling into embedded software and from there into PC software on Linux, QNX and Windows for approx. 20 years.
I picked up Arduino a number of years ago to get back into embedded programming and to get a grip on C++.
The extra 20-30 seconds loading times, on my PC (Windows), is insignificant when compared to the time I spend working on a sketch (It did become a lot better when I moved the install - I use zip installs - to a SSD). Compile time is much faster and the load time difference is gained on the very first compile.
The IDE offers a modern, much more complete, working environment.
Most of the time I work on different hardware simultaneously and just the fact that each instance can have its own programmer and port makes it a winner for me.
The few current outstanding issues does not concern me in the way I work. I enter code the way I like it and never use auto format, so that is of no concern either.
Currently hobbyist use, As someone once put it - anti alzheimer therapy.
